Book Bank


Book Bank is housed in the separate section of the Central Library at the new wing. Book Bank is a very good service which offers up to 6 books issued to every student for the whole semester on a very nominal rental amount and on first-cum-first serve basis on notified dates only. It has a syllabus related dedicated collection of about 2,000 books which is regularly updated. The service is available for undergraduate students only. The books from the section are in high demand as they cover the syllabus of the students.

Important Information:

Related image The Book Bank is for use by undergraduate students only.Book bank facility has been mainly designed for scheduled Caste /Scheduled Tribe students and also available for OBC, MCM and General students on First-cum-First Serve basis.

Related image Students may apply for books from the Book Bank collection as per the schedule announced by the Library after that no latecomers are allowed issue of the books from the section.

Related image Students have to bring their ID cards for Book Bank facility.

Related image Up to 6 books can be reserved and issued per semester by the undergraduate students.

Related image Books in Book Bank can be returned on or before the due date but another book cannot be issued in place of that.

Related image Late fine at the rate of Rs. 1/- perday.

Related image Writing and highlighting in books is not allowed.

Related image In case of loss, the cost of the book in foreign currency is to be charged at the current conversion rate of the currency.

Related image Lost book should be replaced by a new book of the same title with the latest edition and overdue charges for each book and with the processing charges of Rs. 50/- per book.

 

 

 

 

Circulation


Circulation section is the gateway between users and documents.Library circulation or library lending comprises the activities around the lending of library books and other material to users of a lending library. A circulation or lending department is one of the key departments of a library. Teegala Krishna Reddy Engineering college Central Library Circulation Section performs issue, renewal, return of books using NewGenLib software.  Apart from these basic task many other jobs like membership registration, issue no-dues certificate, inter library lone, overdue fine collection, book reservation, various e-mail alert generation, etc. and all kind of queries by the users are being performed by this section. 

Important Rules

  1. Users should check the physical condition of a book while borrowing the same.
  2. If the damaged book belongs to a set, then the user is responsible for the entire set.
  3. During power/system failures, the circulation counter services will be suspended.
  4. Immediately after the issue of a book, the user is required to take out the same from the library
  5. No book shall be returned on the day of issue.
  6. While leaving the library user should ensure that they carry only those books that are duly issued on their names,
  7. otherwise disciplinary action will be taken against them.
  8. User must check the Accession Number of the book issued by his / her name with the printed borrower's slip before
  9. leaving the circulation counter. No objection will be considered afterwards.
  10. Every user is requested to check the status of books outstanding against his/her name soon after a transaction at the counter. Discrepancy, if any, should be brought to the notice of the counter person immediately. Any complaint thereafter is not likely to be entertained.
  11. When there is an emergent demand for a borrowed book, the same must be returned within seven days to the library.
  12. Users are responsible for complying with the copyright act while photocopying library document.
  13. An outgoing member should return the library identity card and all the documents outstanding against his/her name along with his outstanding delay fine if any.
  14. If any member is found misusing /mutilating /stealing/ cutting pages from a book, disciplinary action will be initiated against him/her, beside withdrawing the library facilities.
  15. Improper use of library facilities by a member will lead to the suspension of termination of his/her membership.
  16. Use of Mobile phone is strictly prohibited inside library premises. If found, the membership as well as use of library facilities may be suspended.

Membership


All the students, faculty members and employees of the Institute can register themselves for the membership of the Library. All Students, faculty and staff members are issued bar-coded patron cards. Their entitlement, in terms of the number of books that can be borrowed by them, are as follows

Library Membership and Member ID card

All students, faculty and employees of the Institute are entitled for the membership of the Library. Library membership form is available at the Membership Counter at Central Library. The Library has over 4500 valid members. The prescribed Membership forms can be had from the circulation counter. Filled application in a prescribed form duly forwarded by the Department Central Library along with three recent Stamp size and one passport size photographs shall be submitted to the library.Each bonafide user will be provided with a Laminated Bar-coded Member ID Card for the duration of course. The Member ID Card is not transferable.  The books and back-dated journals are arranged on the shelves subject-wise according to the Dewey Decimal Classification Scheme.

 Borrowing Rules

Related image The readers should check the books thoroughly for missing pages, chapters, etc. while getting them issued.

Related image No book in damaged condition will be accepted from the users on return. Damaged books will have to be replaced by the borrower.

Conventions for Issues / Return

Related image General books are issued to all eligible members as per their entitlements.    

 Related image Reference books and bound volumes are issued to members with special permission. Please contact Incharge, Reader Services/Librarian for obtaining permission.  

Related image Theses, dissertations, CDs, are not lent out of the Library.

Cost recovery of Lost Books by the Library members

Following is the approved criteria for recovering the cost of lost books by Library members:

Related image Lost book should be replaced by a new book with overdue charges, if any and with processing charges of Rs. 50/- for each book.

Related image In case the book is out of print or not available in the market then the double of the cost mentioned in the Accession register should be charged with processing charges of Rs. 50/- for each book with overdue charges, if any.

Related image Minimum of Rs. 300/- to be charged with processing charges of Rs. 50/- for each book with overdue charges, if any.

Related image The cost of the book in foreign currency to be charged at the current conversion rate of the currency.

Overdue Fine

Items that are returned after the due date are considered overdue. Overdue fines are assessed at the following rates:

Related image Rs. 0.50 per day for the books issued from Book-Bank Section

Loss of Library Card

Related image The loss of Library Card should be reported to the Readers Services Section of the Library. The concerned section (UG/PG) will issue duplicate Identity card. Contact Readers Services for issuance of bar-code. Borrowers shall be responsible for any loss or misuse of their original/duplicate card.

 

Reference Services


Reference Service is an important service offered by the library. It helps users to make full use of the resources available in the library. It provides guidance in the use of library resources and services, assists in accessing e-journals, e-books, databases, multimedia sources etc. It also maintains a collection of reference books consisting of encyclopedias, dictionaries, directories, handbooks, technical data, almanacs, atlases, bibliographies, CD-ROMs, Audio and Video cassettes, etc. Reference books are marked “R” and Rare Reference are marked “RR”. Both collection are kept under lock and key.A copy of the each prescribed text book and other recommended books are kept under text book collection in the reference section and these are to be referred on the Library premises only.

Related image Reference books are meant to be accessible to as many people as possible, these books are not permitted to leave the library. The viewing facility is available to the students, staff and faculty of the Institute from 9.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. on all working days.

User Awareness Program


The library takes an active part in the orientation programme organized by the institute for the benefit of new students in the beginning of academic year. They are taken around the library to familiarize them with various resources and services available for them. Training sessions are also organized whenever a new product or service is introduced.

Any user desiring to know more about library resources and service or to learn how to use a particular resource like OPAC, e-journals, databases etc. should contact Incharge, Reference service.

Central Library also organizes training, workshops and  conferences etc. for library and information professionals working in S &T libraries in the Country to help them update their knowledge and skills.

Inter Library Loan


Library facilitates to get the Books/Documents/Journal Article from other Libraries which is not available in the Library collection.
