Our Profile
The Department of Library & Information Centre Central Library has been established Since in the Year 2005 Located on 4th Floor with Two wings. The Library System comprises of a Central Library and 7 departmental libraries that collectively support the teaching, research and extension programmes of the Institute. The library is well equipped with good infrastructure facilities, the Central Library houses a total collection of volumes 57,729 in all the disciplines comprising of books, theses, journals, video cassettes and compact discs in the fields of science, engineering, humanities, literature and management. All in-house operations in the library are fully computerized using the NewGenLib software package that also provides web-based access to the online catalogue of Library. The library subscribed print National, International journals directly from publishers and IEEE online journals through INDEST-AICTE Consortium, technical magazines and news papers are available.

- Textbook Section remains operational all through the opening hours of the Library on all days.
- The Library remains closed on Republic Day (January 26), Independence Day (August 15), Dussehra, Diwali, Sankranthi, Holi and Mahatma Gandhi's Birthday (October 2) in observance of the holidays.
- Special arrangements are made to keep the Library open 10.30 PM, before and during the minor and major examinations.
General Rules
- The Library user shall not engage in audible conversation in any part of the Library;
- A person shall not write upon, damage or mark any book belonging to the Library;
- A person responsible for any damage caused by him / her to the books or any other property belonging to the Library, shall be required to pay the penalty imposed upon him/her by the Librarian;
- The Staff at the Library gate will check all personal belongings including Library books issued to a member;
- Personal book(s) shall not be allowed inside the Library. Please leave them at the Property Counter;
- Use of mobile phone in the Library is prohibited;
- The reader should check the books before borrowing to ensure that these are not damaged. If a book is found to be damaged or certain pages are missing, the borrower should get this statement recorded on the book, otherwise he/she shall be held responsible for the damage, discovered at the time of returning the books;
- Smoking, pan chewing and spitting in the library is prohibited.
- Photo copying (Reprography) service shall be available for the library material against payment.
- Users are responsible for photocopying with copyright get while copying library documents.
- Silence and strict discipline should be maintained in the library by a user and the library staff. Every one shall ensure that no reader should feel disturbed in their study by any get of his / her.
- An overdue charge of Rs. 1 per day shall be charged against each Book / Document not returned within the due date
- If a document is not returned within 15 days of its due date it shall be treated as lost and action shall be initiated to recover the cost of the document as per the rules.
- Newly arrived documents shall be displayed documents on display shall be issued only after a specified period.
- No documents shall be returned on the day of issue.
- College identity card must wear in the library otherwise canot allowed in to the library.
- Photography is not allowed; and
- Membership privileges of a user can be suspended on account of mis-behaviour with the Library staff or for indecent manners.
Collection
The Library subscribes to 300 current journals. The Library has a rich collection of books on science,technology and Management including chemistry, mathematics, physics, civil engineering, computer science, electrical and electronics engineering, Information Technology engineering. Besides, Library also has a good collection in the areas of humanities and social sciences.

Layout & Floors Plan
The Central Library was initially setup in August 2005 in 4th floor of main building of the Institute. In 2016 it is extended to new building of the Institute. The Library is spread over two wings with the total covered area of 2,050 sq. mtrs. (approx.) The Library has its entrance from the fourth floor and is connected to the main building and new wing connected through a bridge. The wing-wise distribution of services and resources of the Library is as follows:

The Library uses NewGenLib software package which is an integrated multi-user library management system that supports all in-house operations of the Library. The NewGenLib consists of modules on acquisition, cataloguing, circulation, serials, article indexing and OPAC. Retrospective conversion of bibliographic records has been completed and 60,000 bibliographic records of books available in the Library, can now be accessed through the NeeGenLib OPAC. The database of books available in the Library is being updated on day to day basis with details of recently acquired books. Records of all the Library patrons have also been created in the NewGenLib package. The editing and updating activities are in progress.
The NewGenLib package has been successfully implemented for the circulation activities, initially for faculty and staff. All faculty and staff members are being migrated to the new computerized circulation system. The package has also been implemented for Acquisition and Cataloguing activities. The data entry work for Serials System is in progress.
The Library's Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) can be accessed on Intranet to search all the bibliographic records available in the Central Library database through a LAN search interface or with window client of the NewGenLib. The OPAC can be searched by author, title, subject, keywords, classified number and publisher. The OPAC also provides information about new arrivals of journals/books, etc. in the Library.
